Reconstruction of IKEM operating halls
The Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (or IKEM) in Prague-Krč was facilitated with two new operating rooms last year. ORs 3 and 4 on the first over the ground floor were modernized with the extension in the wing of the building which is marked with D. Besides the operating rooms, we built a new resting area for doctors and surgeons, the preparatory areas for patients, and the sterile hallway.
The existing operating wing D of the IKEM building on the first over ground floor underwent reconstruction. The modernization attributed to enhancing the quality of the working environment as well as working conditions. The works were carried out in the form of mounted metal walls and of metal tiling. All modifications are compliant with the highest standards, requirements and the nature of a health-care facility. At the same time, all the works were implemented to maintain the original character of the building as a whole.
New interior partitions were solved by an extension. The ORs, the preparatory area, as well as the laboratories, are designed as a system of a metal extension. The surface of the partitions and tiling is formed particularly from reinforced coated, rustless sheet metal. The interior cladding panels are coated with antibacterial powder color. The rest of the relating partitions are additional walls with ceramic or plasterboard partitions allowing the maximum flexibility of the interior.
The reconstruction was hindered by the fact that it was being realized under the demanding ongoing medical operations. The entire project had thus had to be scheduled not to interfere with the operations of the Institute, and to take as little time as possible.
