Reconstruction of the municipal swimming pool in the town of Rakovník
At the beginning of 2020, the citizens of Rakovník got a brand new aquapark. The local swimming area was under a long-term unsatisfactory technical condition. In the last two years, therefore, it underwent a complete reconstruction and completion. We modified the layout, completed the toboggan hall, and established a modern and safe environment for sports and relaxation of visitors to the aquapark.
The indoor municipal swimming pool has been in operation in Rakovník since 1983. However, over time, the materials had worn out, and the structure of the swimming pool hall and outdoor swimming pools was in disrepair. The technological equipment was also at the edge of its lifetime after thirty-five years of operation.
Therefore, we have gradually renovated the building and added some new elements. There were significant shape and design simplifications of the roof above the main pool. We chose a shed roof with wooden glued trusses. We also changed the layout of the glazed areas and added new vistas out of the relaxation zones and water attractions. We have built a new toboggan tower, which with a height of almost 17 meters, is a distinct urban and architectural element visible from afar.
The interior was completely torn down. We only preserved the main twenty-five-meter swimming pool and the children’s training pool. The pools have been newly added with a relaxation area with water attractions such as the wild river or the Kneipp path. The complex also includes a sauna world and new operating facilities. The basement now houses a fitness and exercise gym.
A new handrailing was installed in the outdoor part along the perimeter of the gallery. Instead of the original concrete and masonry railings, a glazed balustrade was chosen to provide a better view of the area. During the upcoming summer season, visitors will also enjoy a brand new facility with showers, toilets, and changing cabins.
