The polyclinic in Lanškroun
The polyclinic in Lanškroun underwent a comprehensive reconstruction. The building dating back to the end of the 19th century, was in a very neglected state and thus did not offer modern and high-quality premises for medical facilities. That is also why the investor decided to gradually demolish the existing building and replace it in two stages with new buildings that fit better into the architecture of the historic center of the town and offer a pleasant environment to visitors to the polyclinic.
The Lanškroun Polyclinic, located close to the town’s historic center, has been housed since the end of the 19th century. It probably originally served as an apartment building and was gradually converted into a medical facility. However, it did not undergo substantial reconstruction, so a significant part of the internal surfaces and installations were far beyond the limit of their service life.
After consulting with the National Heritage Institute, the investor finally decided to demolish the original building and gradually replace it with new buildings that would create a uniform urban block and, at the same time, fit better into the historical construction of the center of Lanškroun. The main goal was to maintain the services of the polyclinic in the town center for citizens, but at the same time, offer them a high-quality and modern environment.
The project was divided into two stages for the facility to remain at least partially operational. In the first stage, we demolished a pair of wings and a garage behind the building and built a new building on the site. In the second stage, the existing medical offices were moved to the new building, and we could demolish and replace the remaining part of the building. Finally, we connected the two parts, and the medical facility was able to return to its full operation.
The new polyclinic is a reinforced concrete building with a walled perimeter. All facade elements and plastering were approved in advance by the National Heritage Institute to respect the architecture of the historic center of the town as much as possible. The building is partially roofed with hipped roofs with a wooden truss and partially with flat roofs for the placement of technologies. The entire building is designed as a three-story building consisting of two tracts connected by a staircase. A total of three above-ground floors are used for medical purposes; the basement is intended for parking, and the attic is for archives and warehouses.
