The implementation was completed in 2024
Although the building had been used as an emergency station in the past, the technical condition of the aviary and the facilities were unsatisfactory. Extensive reconstruction and removal of much of the original construction was necessary.
In the new rescue station there are various types of treatment aviaries, modern facilities including a nursing room, operating theatres, feed preparation and staff facilities. The staff also has new offices, service rooms and storage rooms. The animal residents have, for example, therapeutic enclosures.
The construction of the entire complex was designed to make maximum use of natural materials. We used wood and stone extensively in the construction, which we combined with green roofs on the buildings. All these modifications are not only aesthetic, but also ecologically important and help to combat drought in line with Prague’s climate change adaptation strategy.
The main building of the rescue station is a two-storey rectangular building with a sloping green roof. The facades have Siberian larch wood cladding and a contact insulation system. The treatment aviaries are ground-floor buildings with a gable roof with extensive greenery. The aviary SO.06 includes water areas. The universal aviary is connected to the adjacent aviaries by connecting canopies. The supporting structure of the individual aviaries is a frame made of galvanized steel bars. The façades of the aviaries facing the complex were enlivened with engraved line drawings of animals.
We added paved roads, parking spaces and planted new greenery in the undeveloped areas.
