The building of the Sokol Hall is a dominant feature on the corner of Holešovská, Sokolská and Javorová roads in Hulín. Unfortunately, it was in a very poor technical condition. By reconstruction, extensions, additions and insulation we have achieved that the building became again an interesting and dominant element of the area.

The available documentation dates back to 1929, when it was a simple building, consisting of the main theatre hall, an adjacent gymnasium and a stage on the ground floor. The perimeter of the theatre was connected to the secondary operating and entrance areas. In 1973, the theatre was extended towards Sokolská Street and a single-storey extension was added. A year later, dressing rooms for hockey and volleyball were added. In the following years the whole building was further extended, which made it look very disparate. In addition, the building was gradually falling into disrepair and the Sokolovna building itself was in a state of disrepair. The building was therefore only partially used and the smaller rooms were used.

Thanks to the reconstruction, the building can once again fulfil its cultural function. After the reconstruction, it fits in better with the rest of the buildings and its shape now relates to the surrounding buildings in the area. We combined silicate plaster in white and grey in the external cladding. We also achieved greater uniformity by removing the gable roofs and roofing the entire building with flat roofs at different heights. The unification of the roof planes was also achieved by adding a glazed café with a small open terrace.

Inside the building, the hospitality and hairdressing rooms were closed and the space was converted back into a cultural hall, dressing rooms and facilities for staff and performers. For example, an auditorium for smaller theatre venues was also added.

On the site of the former tennis courts we built a new parking lot for visitors to cultural events. We have added sidewalks and islands of greenery to the outdoor spaces.
