Děčín Hospital Emergency Pavilion

It was our great honor to participate in the reconstruction and completion of the Emergency pavilion within the premises of the Hospital in Děčín. The extensive project had to be divided into several parts, including demolishing several buildings and constructing a completely new building and its connection to the existing Pavilion E.

The implementation was completed in 2024

The new, modern Emergency pavilion at the Hospital in Děčín brings a host of benefits for both patients and staff. It features a high-threshold and low-threshold emergency room, an intensive care unit, new operating theaters, and an inpatient unit, all designed to enhance the quality of care and comfort.

To start construction, we first had to remove the structures that stood on the site of the planned new pavilion. These were MTZ warehouses and a former laundry. Although in the past, the laundry building served, for example, as an infectious disease ward, and in the 1950s saw the completion of an infant and children’s ward, none of them is used as a medical facility anymore. We, therefore, removed the buildings and built a modern pavilion in their place, which will be primarily used for emergency medicine.

The new Emergency pavilion, a monolithic reinforced concrete structure, stands tall in the northwestern part of the Hospital in Děčín. Its strategic location allows for seamless connectivity with the existing Pavilion E, which houses various departments including maternity, eye, ENT, and surgery.

On the 1st above-ground floor, we have built a technical background, including an air-conditioning machine room for common areas, an electrical substation for high-current and low-current distributions, and an exchange station. Stores and changing rooms for hospital staff are also located here. On the 2nd above-ground floor, visitors will find the emergency entrance for the low-threshold and high-threshold sections and the exit to the parking garage. The 3rd above-ground floor mainly comprises operating rooms, central sterilization, and post-operative beds. The ARIM department is on the 4th above-ground floor – an intensive care unit connected to the anesthesiology-resuscitation department. In the northwestern part of this floor, we made preparations for the future construction of the children’s department. On the 5th above-ground floor, there is, again, mainly a technical background with air conditioning machine rooms for operating theaters, patient clean rooms, and a cooling machine room. But there are also medical rooms, for example. Two staircases and four elevators connect all floors. The roof of the pavilion above the 5th floor is designed in such a way as to enable the construction of a heliport in the future, and the 6th floor is designed as a possible future exit to the roof part for transporting patients from the heliport and for hospital maintenance.

As part of the construction, we built a two-story parking garage with 69 parking spaces near the new pavilion, which will be used for health professionals and the public.

We also renovated the existing Energocentrum in the hospital area. These were partial structural modifications – for example, replacing windows and doors. The building also received a new facade. However, the vast majority of changes took place inside the building, as it was necessary to adapt the technological equipment to the expected increase in energy consumption after the completion of the new pavilion and other planned buildings due to these facts, a new low and high voltage machine room, two transformers and a diesel generator for backup electricity were built entirely in the hospital in the Děčín area.
