The implementation was completed in 2022
Improving the quality of the environment and public areas – these were the main goals of the extensive reconstruction of the center of the Moravian-Silesian town of Orlová, which has been ongoing since 2016. The new solution now defines the center of the town as an administrative and cultural center.
The basis of the new solution was the construction of an underground parking lot with more than ninety parking spaces. In addition to the square, the parking lot is also connected to a multifunctional building that has also recently grown up in the town center, and the relaxation zone of the municipal park seamlessly connects to the new buildings.
The new four-story building combines a monolithic, reinforced concrete structure (1st floor) and masonry load-bearing perimeter walls with a transverse load-bearing system made of hollow ceramic bricks (2nd – 4th floor). The facade then corresponds with the surface of the square and is made of ceramic cladding tape. The ground floor is covered with a black brick strip, and the plinth part has marble cladding, including marble sill plates. Part of the building will be used for commercial purposes. The remaining part will serve as residential units.
The square and the adjacent park were also modified. The space was enhanced by a new fountain with an eagle sculpture, high-quality municipal outdoor furniture in the form of massive granite blocks, and new public lighting.
