The depository in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm

The depository in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, which falls under the Wallachian open-air museum in the town of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, has expanded. We connected the existing building with the new facility, which, in addition to the latest depository, also houses, for example, the income depository for storing things that have not yet been treated with conservation.

The implementation was completed in 2023

The new depository is a concrete monolithic structure supplemented by a wall and column system. It uses the “cube within cube” principle regarding the layout. The premises of the depository are thus situated inside the building, while there are corridors around it, which create a heat-insulating filter. The building is plastered with smooth, light green plaster. At the top is a strip in dark olive green, combined with the pre-set wooden facade cladding. The windows, doors, and gates are wood-aluminum in a light gray shade.

The extension with two above-ground floors is connected to the existing depository by an above-ground corridor on the second floor. In addition, the building has one main monolithic concrete staircase and a freight elevator.

In addition to the standard depository for storing collections, there is a temporary and income depository. The income depository is used to store items that have not yet been treated and is also accessible from the outside. It is connected to the rest of the interior spaces only by a door for workers. It even has separate air ducts due to the risk of contaminating the collections.

The entire extension was designed in such a way as to allow possible expansion in the future, which the investor is considering.
